Harmonized Sales Tax (HST): HST Calculator
The Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) is applied in five Canadian provinces: New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Ontario, and Prince Edward Island. The Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) combines the federal GST (5%) and provincial tax into a single, unified rate. This approach simplifies tax collection for businesses and consumers.
GST + PST (Provincial Sales Tax)
PST (Provincial Sales Tax) is applied in four Canadian provinces: British Columbia, Manitoba, Quebec, and Saskatchewan. These provinces apply the federal GST (5%) plus a separate Provincial Sales Tax (PST). The two taxes are calculated and billed separately, providing greater transparency on the distribution of taxes.
GST Calculator: GST Only (5%)
The provinces and territories where only the GST is applied are: Alberta, the Northwest Territories, Nunavut, and Yukon. These provinces and territories apply only the federal Goods and Services Tax (GST) of 5%. No additional provincial taxes are applied, making them the jurisdictions with the lowest tax rates in Canada.
